Mikel Arteta and Edu could complete a dream window for Arsenal with one more addition in the final few weeks. The focus is understandably on sealing exits after more than £200million was spent, but opportunities in the market could arise which may be too hard for the Gunners to turn down.
One of those possible chances could arrive at right-back with Arsenal sure to be considering their options after the severity of Jurrien Timber's knee injury was revealed. The 22-year-old damaged his anterior cruciate ligament in the victory over Nottingham Forest with surgery required meaning he will miss the majority of the 2023/24 season.
When asked about Timber's injury impacting transfer plans, Arteta remained coy on the topic. "I’m more thinking about the resources in the team to keep doing what we want to do," he said. "But it’s true he was giving us a lot on both sides. But again, it’s things that happen and we have to be prepared for that."
Mohamed Simakan, Joao Cancelo and Ivan Fresneda have all been linked with transfers to the Gunners but do not look likely to join. RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose has dismissed talk of Simakan leaving, while Cancelo and Fresneda look set for moves elsewhere.
Barcelona star Jules Kounde is the latest name to be discussed with Arsenal as they look set to sign Cancelo from Manchester City. However, one option is Bayern Munich's Benjamin Pavard, who's future continues to take multiple turns.
