Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Nuno Tavares on loan with an option to buy around £12million.
As Mail Sport reported yesterday, Forest had revived talks after the deal stalled last week and Aston Villa had considered the deal.
Forest will pay a loan fee around £1.2million and they are also signing Brazilian defender Murillo from Corinthians for £13.75million.
Tavares arrived at The Emirates in 2021, but has failed to establish himself in the Gunners first team and spent last season on-loan at Marseille.
He is yet to feature for Mikel Arteta's side so far this season, and looks to have no future under the Spanish boss.
The 23-year-old played 39 times for Marseille last season, scoring six goals, and now looks set for another loan move as he heads for the City Ground.
Steve Cooper's side will also add Brazilian defender Murillo to his ranks before Friday's transfer deadline.
The 21-year-old centre-back was due for a medical on Tuesday and will bolster Forest's options in defence after a breakthrough season for Corinthians.
In what could be a busy week ahead of the transfer window closing on Friday, Forest are also in talks with Bologna over a swap deal that would see them bring in Nicolas Dominguez for midfielder Remo Freuler.
There's also been an offer for Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi and have agreed personal terms with the Nigerian midfielder. However, they could face competition for his signature from Liverpool.
As for any outgoings at the City Ground, Brennan Johnson looks set to head out the exit door, with Tottenham now the favourites to sign the Welsh forward.
