Nottingham Forest are closing in on a loan deal for Chelsea's Brazilian Andrey Santos as they attempt to reinforce their squad before the transfer window shuts.
The 19-year-old agreed a move to Stamford Bridge in January, but is now set to be shipped out on a temporary deal in search of Premier League experience.
Santos has been in excellent pre-season form, but Chelsea are overloaded with expensive midfielders and would unlikely rival other figures for a starting berth in Mauricio Pochettino's side.
A deal is edging closer to being completed with the Blues keen to see the player continue his development at another English top-flight side.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are considering Forest's Brennan Johnson and the idea of loaning Santos out - plus cash to secure the Wales international, appeals to some staff at the club.
However, Spurs are also interested in the Forest star and could look to hijack a deal for Johnson.
Should Santos arrive at the City Ground then Forest manager Steve Cooper will be tasked with getting the best out of an unproven talent.
The South American rising star impressed during Chelsea's pre-season tour of America and made the bench for the opening Premier League game of the new season against Liverpool.
Forest have already used loan deals to their advantage during the summer and recently announced their season-long acquisition of Gonzalo Montiel from Sevilla.
The 26-year-old scored the decisive penalty as his country beat France in the 2022 World Cup final and also netted the winning spot-kick in last season's Europa League final.
