David Silva delivers surprise Premier League title prediction amid Arsenal claim

David Silva has backed Arsenal as the only team he can see challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

City have won each of the last three league titles, with the Gunners leading the table for the majority of the 2022/23 campaign before ultimately falling short due to some poor form in April and May. This term, Mikel Arteta's side have picked up 10 points from their first four league outings, with City the only team in the English top-flight that can boast a perfect record going into the international break.

Pep Guardiola and Co. are widely expected to retain their title again this season and Silva has admitted that Arsenal are the only team he can see giving his former side a run for their money. «They [City] have an amazing team with some amazing players,» the ex-Spanish international told The Mirror.

«This is Pep’s eighth season at City. The first year he was getting used to the Premier League, but now they are almost unstoppable.

»Arsenal are the only team I can see who maybe have a chance of challenging City. The rest? I don’t think they can.

«I watched nearly all of City’s games in the Champions League last season, I couldn’t win it when I was there, but I’m so happy for the club that they were finally able to do it. They deserve it.

»The club deserves it, the supporters deserve to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup – the Treble. It was an amazing achievement."
