However, reports in Portugal have claimed that the Gunners missed out on Diomande's signing after the 19-year-old impressed for Sporting last season. The young defender made 34 appearances for the Portuguese outfit last term, scoring two goals and providing one assist - along with keeping 11 clean sheets in all competitions.
Arsenal remain interested in Diomande and have promised to return next summer, according to Record. Sporting are said to have rejected a €35million (£30million) offer from Arsenal during the summer transfer window.
