Arsenal sent clear Porto warning as obvious tactic revealed for Champions League clash

Francisco Conceicao believes Porto will need to score at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night if they are to knock Arsenal out of the Champions League. The visitors hold a slender 1-0 aggregate lead in the last-16 tie following Galeno's last-gasp winner at the Estadio do Dragao last month.

They now visit north London, where they find an in-form Arsenal side that sit top of the Premier League table. Conceicao, whose father Sergio is Porto head coach, hinted that sitting back and hoping for a goalless draw to progress will not be the way for the visitors to approach the crunch second leg.

«Only by scoring here in the second leg will we be able to get through the tie,» he said on the eve of the game. «They have a very strong team. We come here to win the game because we are a great team and we want to win the game.

»Arsenal is a team that fights for big goals, but we are more interested in our team and the work we have to do to leave here victorious. We have to be a great FC Porto, like the first leg, to reach the quarter-finals. We are prepared, we prepared well for the game, if we have the right attitude we can go through."

Sergio Conceicao said after the first leg that Arsenal «wanted to play» while Porto «wanted to win.» The Gunners failed to have a shot on target in Portugalbut have been on top of their game domestically.

Conceicao's son has backed the former Portugal midfielder as one of the elite managers in the game and believes Tuesday's clash gives him a chance to prove it. «Sergio Conceicao is one of the best coaches in the world, he has proven this a long time ago and I know that time will prove me right,» added Francisco.
