Arsenal star Thomas Partey hints his long-term future is with the club

An Arsenal star has said they will happily sign a contract to remain at the club despite having just one year left on their current deal.

The Gunners beat Luton Town 2-0 on Wednesday night to move back to the summit of the Premier League table, with Liverpool playing on Thursday.

And with the title race hotting up, and Arsenal fighting in the Champions League as well, there will be many top players looking to sign extensions to their current deals at the Emirates.

Thomas Partey opened up on his future with the club in a post-match interview after the Luton game, his first start since August, by claiming 'My head is always here'.

According to The Mirror, he added: 'This is where I choose to play. I'm really happy every time I'm on the field. I know a lot of speculation has been going on, but for me, I'm really happy to be here and to continue playing for this club.

'With my contract, I still have to the end of the season, I think. I have to do my best and try to perform at the highest level and I think the most important is to be available every time.'

Following a long injury lay-off with a thigh issue, the Ghana midfielder said he is fit for Arsenal's title run-in, as well as their Champions League quarter-final games against Bayern Munich.

Partey said: 'It's good to be back. I feel really good, it's been a while.

'I've been trying to work a lot on my fitness and I've been through a lot of work. I've done all I can and I'm really happy to be back and I feel really good.

'I think I've improved a lot on my fitness, and I'm trying my best to keep on going at this level and keep giving my best.'

Arsenal travel to Brighton on Saturday evening before the home quarter-final against Bayern three days later.
