Goncalo Ramos continues to struggle in Paris and there are reports from L'Equipe that Luis Enrique is not totally convinced by the former Benfica man leading to suggestions of an opportunity for Arsenal. Having arrived in the summer on an initial loan deal, PSG activated the €65million (£55.8million) option in November to make the move permanent.
However, less than two months later, reports from France suggest the Parisiens might be open to a sale. It is unlikely anyone in the Premier League would be able to offer the money needed to persuade the French champions to sell, however, there could be scope for a loan move.
PSG would benefit from the loan of Ramos to find form elsewhere before a future sale or reintegration into Enrique’s plans. This could be where Arsenal come in as they attempt to tread carefully around Profit and Sustainability rules whilst reinforcing the hope of a boost to their title chances.
The Gunners are permitted to sign one more player on loan this season. They have already got David Raya until the end of the campaign from Brentford – the deal includes a buy option that the club could choose to activate.
Goals have been a problem for Arsenal who have just one in their last three matches, all of which have ended in defeat. Ramos could provide the extra firepower needed until the end of the season.
That said, it would be a risk to take Ramos on who has just three goals in 13 Ligue 1 games. The talent was clear having scored 30 in 64 Portuguese league matches and impressing for Portugal at the World Cup – he has seven in ten senior matches for his country.
