According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are planning on terminating Clément Lenglet’s (28) loan move from Barcelona early. There are plans for discussions to take place between Villa officials and the player’s entourage about the possibility of an early termination in January. Barcelona, as his parent club, will also have to be included in these discussions.
The former Tottenham Hotspur loanee has found his minutes at Villa Park limited since he arrived on loan from Barcelona in the summer. Lenglet has only played 450 minutes for the Premier League club and all of these have come in the Europa Conference League. The former Sevilla defender has not played one minute of action in the Premier League for Aston Villa.
In the case of an early termination, AC Milan remain interested in the 28-year-old’s services, according to Romano. The Serie A club are waiting to understand the conditions of any potential deal though and are only interested in signing the Barcelona centre back on loan. It remains to be seen where Lenglet will be playing his football in 2024, but all signs indicate that it will not be at Aston Villa.
