Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo insists he has no desire to leave Camp Nou, having been linked repeatedly with a Manchester United switch in recent transfer windows.
Back in December, former United defender Rio Ferdinand suggested if he was in Araujo''s position then he'd shun an Old Trafford switch for fear such a move could risk his career. At the time, former La Liga star Raphael Varane had lost his starting spot, though the Frenchman has since found his way back in thanks to colleagues' injuries, and Ferdinand made comparisons between the two.
United are preparing for a busy summer after the investment from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and centre-back could be a key area, especially if they're unable to agree new terms with Varane. The France defender is out of contract in the summer, with the Premier League club opting against triggering an extension on his current wages.
Uruguay international Araujo in no mind to leave Catalunya for Manchester, though, The 25-year-old is under contract until the end of the 2025-26 season, playing regularly this term when fit, and has opened up on his future.
“There’s been a lot of talk about this issue, but I’m happy in Barcelona," Araujo said, as translated by Football Espana. "In addition, we have to finish the season well because there are still challenges, also with Uruguay with the Copa America.”
Araujo linked up with Uruguay's squad for the March international break. He wasn't involved in the friendly against the Basque Country, though, with Matias Vecino netting in a 1-1 draw.
Marcelo Bielsa's team have been handed an inviting draw in the upcoming Copa America. Hosts the United States will be one of their group stage opponents, along with Panama and Bolivia.
