Bukayo Saka's attempt to con a penalty from Manuel Neuer was an 'absolute shocker', Chris Sutton has told It's All Kicking Off.
Arsenal's Champions League quarter-final, first leg with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night was delicately balanced at 2-2 when Saka burst through on goal.
It looked at first glance as if Bayern goalkeeper Neuer had tripped Saka as the England forward attempted to play the ball around him to score.
However, Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg waved away Arsenal's penalty appeals and closer inspection showed Saka initiated the contact by extending his right leg towards Neuer.
Arsenal were left incensed as the game finished all-square and a debate has raged ever since about whether Saka was unfortunate or whether he deliberately looked to win the penalty.
Mail Sport's experts debated the matter on Wednesday before Mail Sport's football editor Ian Ladyman told the It's All Kicking Off podcast that Saka's act may benefit him in the long run.
'Arsenal are at home to Aston Villa on Sunday in the Premier League,' Ladyman said.
'They are top of the Premier League now as we know following Liverpool's failure to beat Manchester United last weekend.
'Sticking with the Saka subject, I actually think that what happened on Tuesday night, in the long-term, will be a good thing for Saka and that starts on Sunday.
'The reason I say that is because he is a young lad, a bright lad, and the attention that his act drew on Tuesday night, the fuss that has followed, the fact we are here two days later talking about it, I think will resonate with him.
'I think it might be the first step in stopping him doing it again. For example, on Sunday, all eyes will be on him, the ref's eyes will be on him and television's eyes will be on him.
