Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich were able to secure their place in the Champions League semi-final after defeating Mikel Arteta'a Arsenal 1-0 at the Allianz Arena.
Only one goal was needed for Thomas Tuchel's side as Joshua Kimmich secured Bayern's progression in the tournament shortly after the hour mark.
Arsenal miss out on their chance to progress in the tournament and will now be forced to set their sights on Premier League silverware.
Fireworks opened up proceedings at the Allianz Arena, and the atmosphere inside the stadium itself reflected the intensity that both sides brought to this deciding fixture.
A chance for Arsenal came in the 20th minute as Gabriel Martinelli drifted and weaved through the Bayern defence, taking advantage of their space on the right-hand side. He was denied the opportunity to score and Bayern were quick to react on the counter attack, leading the Gunners back up the pitch.
The Bundesliga side were then close to taking the lead, with Raphael Guerreiro and Noussair Mazraoui combining down the left to force David Raya, who can greatly thank defender Ben White for his assistance, to make a save.
Arsenal fans almost had the chance to celebrate just ten minutes later when Martin Odegaard fired a shot, which took a slight deflection from the edge of the box. Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was forced to scramble across to his right to stop the Gunners from scoring.
The opportunity for a free-kick opened up for Arsenal and Declan Rice stepped up to take it. He curled it in from the left, but Kai Havertz was unable to get enough power to header it home, making for a comfortable Neuer save.
