Bayern Munich have offered left-back Alphonso Davies substantially less wages than he has asked for as they attempt to tie the Real Madrid target to a new contract, according to reports.
Davies has under 18 months left on his current deal signed in April 2020, before he had won the Champions League with Bayern and established himself among the best in the world in his position.
writes that the 23-year-old Canada international has a proposal from Bayern on the table that would pay him a gross annual salary between €11m and €13m, the equivalent of up to €250,000 (£213,000) per week, and run until 2029.
However, Davies is said to be asking for €20m per season, which leaves the respective parties 'a long way apart' in negotiations. What's more, Bayern appear to be against meeting such demands and are tipped to call the player's bluff and let him engage in talks with Real Madrid instead if he's insistent on such a number.
revealed back in November that Davies had been willing to discuss fresh terms with Bayern but is seeking a salary that he feels is befitting his world class level.
The likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have all taken an interest in Davies but ultimately believe he has his heart set on joining Real Madrid and are sceptical of their chances of being able to persuade him otherwise in the event that he leaves Munich.
In terms of the transfer fee, a recent report from Spain suggests that Madrid would not be willing to spend more than €40m (£34m) on Davies, considerably less than Bayern's asking price, reported in Germany to be around €60m (£51m).
