The German club is looking for a successor to Tuchel and has turned to the former Real Madrid coach, who days ago confessed he wanted to return to the bench
Zinedine Zidane left Real Madrid and the dugout in June 2021. Since then, he has been approached by several teams such as Juventus, PSG and even rumors of him taking over the French national team (Real Madrid has never been an option).
However, he has always been reluctant to take the step to return to his coaching role. Well, in recent days Bayern Munich has contacted his agent to convey the German club's interest in his services.
Bayern are seeing the end of what seemed to be a seemingly endless domination of the Bundesliga. Tuchel's arrival in March 2023 helped the Bavarian side clinch the German championship last season on the final matchday after a stumble by Borussia Dortmund.
Unfortunately for them, the dominance of Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen this season has been beyond doubt. This resulted in an extended farewell to Tuchel who, although he is staying on until the end of the season, his relationship with Bayern will not go beyond the first days of June.
In recent days, German club officials contacted Zidane's entourage to find out whether or not he is willing to return to the bench three years after the end of his relationship with Real Madrid. The names ofNagelsmann, Flick and Mourinho have already come up repeatedly as possible options, but the latest move from Munich points to the coach who won three consecutive Champions League titles in the Madrid dugout.
It is surprising that Bayern, a team that usually plans well in advance (they announced the arrivals of previous coaches such as Guardiola in January), is still actively searching for the ideal candidate.
