Bayern Munich were only able to name nine substitutes on their bench for the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal at the Allianz Arena. Thomas Tuchel's side have suffered numerous injury blows in the past week that leaves them short.
Mikel Arteta himself didn't name the full allowance of 25, opting for 12 substitutes. His starting XI had three changes from the one that lost to Aston Villa on Sunday.
Bayern lost star winger Kingsley Coman in the build-up to the game as well as having to do without former Arsenal attacker Serge Gnabry. Manuel Neuer was passed as fit to play despite a worry — he didn't feature against Koln in a 2-0 win for the 2013 and 2020 winners on Saturday.
Alphonso Davies is suspended for the clash having picked up his third yellow card of the competition early on in the first leg. Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Kai Havertz avoided the same fate whilst Leon Goretzka was also walking the same tightrope.
For the Gunnersit was Jorginho, Gabriel Martinelli, and Takehiro Tomiyasu that come into the side following the weekend with a bench including Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah, and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Despite being able to name a much bigger matchday squad for European games, Bayern opted not to fill their bench and appear to have a weaker selection available to them. Tuchel does have the experience of Thomas Muller to turn to.
