I saw Arsene Wenger the angriest he's ever been after Arsenal's Champions League defeat

Jack Wilshere has shed light on a moment when Arsene Wenger, known for his composed demeanour, was left angrier than he's ever been over aChampions League exit.

Wenger, who guided Arsenal to three Premier League titles during his tenure, was renowned for his calm approach both on and off the pitch. But even he had moments of anger, as recounted by Wilshere, who spent his entire Arsenal career under Wenger's tutelage.

Despite the success that the Gunners enjoyed under Wenger in the league and FA Cup, the Champions League remained elusive throughout his 22-year reign.

And it was a Champions League clash with Barcelona that saw FIFA's current Chief of Global Football Development lose his temper. In the 2010/11 tournament, Arsenal managed to edge past a formidable Barca side in the first leg with a 2-1 victory at the Emirates.

But the tables turned dramatically at the Camp Nou. Lionel Messi put Pep Guardiola's team ahead, before Arsenal took a 3-2 aggregate lead thanks to an own goal from Sergio Busquets, giving the Gunners a vital away goal.

Minutes later, the match was completely flipped when Robin van Persie received his marching orders for a second bookable offence for kicking the ball away after the referee's whistle. Van Persie protested, claiming he hadn't heard the whistle, but referee Massimo Busacca dismissed his appeals.

Jack Wilshere recounted Arsene Wenger's fury at the incident. Speaking to Arsenal's official website, Wilshere shared: «I was thinking 'what have I just seen? ' I remember being angry, and Arsene was so angry. I knew why he'd been sent off, but it didn't make sense.
