Arsenal's Champions League 'journey' tweet was mocked on social media after Wednesday night's defeat to Bayern Munich.
A second-half header from Joshua Kimmich gave the German giants a 1-0 win on the night and a 3-2 victory over the Gunners on aggregate, to reach the semi-finals of Europe's elite club competition.
When sharing the final score on X (formerly Twitter), Arsenal wrote: 'A Champions League journey to be proud of', along with a red heart emoji - but it was not a sentiment shared by everyone.
One X user replied: 'Proud of what? You lot had the easiest run in the tournament'.
Arsenal finished top of Group B, beating PSV Eindhoven, Lens and Sevilla to the summit, before squeezing their way past Porto on penalties last month in the Round of 16.
'Won the easiest group you could get and beat Porto on pens. Aim high', one X user wrote, while another said: 'Teams beaten on the magical journey: PSV, Lens, Sevilla and Porto'.
Another shared two crying emojis whilst claiming that the teams Arsenal beat along the way were 'not even Europa league', referring to UEFA's second-tier tournament.
'Lost a group game to Lens, scraped past Porto on pens and limped out to a Bayern team having their worst season in years', one post read, adding 'Proud' along with a quartet of laughing emojis.
Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga on Sunday evening to break Bayern's 11-year stranglehold on the German league.
