Bayern stars' girlfriends denied Arsenal tickets for Champions League clash

Bayern Munich players won’t have their partners in the stands at the Emirates Stadium when they take on Arsenal on Tuesday night due to a UEFA ban.

The German giants have travelled to north London for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. They are considered the underdogs for the tie after their Bundesliga campaign unravelled – and Bayern have a further disadvantage to contend with.

Thomas Tuchel’s side won’t have any away fans cheering them on against Arsenal after UEFA punished them for throwing fireworks onto the pitch during the 3-1 win against Lazio in the previous round. Having been punished for doing the same thing against Copenhagen in October, UEFA decided to give the club a one-game ban from purchasing away tickets.

According to Bild, Bayern have been allocated a limited number of tickets but have decided to hand them out to club officials, executives and members of Tuchel's support staff, rather than the players’ partners. Some reportedly travelled to London along with their partners, but won’t be able to get into the Emirates for the match itself.

The wives of Joshua Kimmich and Tottenham loanee Eric Dier are among those to have travelled to London. It is unclear whether Harry Kane's wife Katie Goodland has made the trip or stayed in Munich in the couple’s £30million mansion.

The hotly-anticipated match will play out amid a strange backdrop, with the game having been subjected to an Islamic State terror threat. ISIS released a threat to all four Champions League quarter-finals which read 'Kill them all', but the matches will still go ahead.
