One of the best pubs in the country is actually right here in Merseyside.
The huge country manor pub, in Thornton Hough, has racked up plenty of awards over its decade in business. The Red Fox, on Liverpool Road, first opened in 2014 in the former Grange Country Club after a massive six-month renovation project.
Since opening in the huge 19th century, large brick, sandstone building, The Red Fox team have managed to create a family friendly venue that serves pub food and afternoon tea. It also regularly hosts beer, gin and cider festivals and a dog walking club, among other events.

In the warmer months, Outfoxed opens which is an outside bar and pizza kitchen, serving stonebaked sourdough pizza, chips and a selection of drinks including guest draught beer, cocktails, G&T's, cans and bottles. However this area doesn't rely on the nice weather, as the bar area is heated and housed under a stretch tent in the garden.
Last year the pub was namedWirral CAMRA Pub of the Year, Wirral CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year and it has also been listed as one of the Top 10 Whisky Pubs in the Good Pub Guide Awards. Currently the bar serves nine cask ales and an ever expanding gin and whisky lists which currently boats more than 150 of each spirit.
More recently, the pub has made it to the final of Visit England's pub of the year category. It's the only pub from the North to be listed, as it goes up against The Acorn Inn, Dorset and The Peterville Inn, Cornwall.
