Bournemouth fans backed Luton boss Edwards after Lockyer fainted
Tom Lockyer collapsed around 60 minutes into the Premier League match between Bournemouth and Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Saturday. The player suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated on the pitch. He is in hospital and is in stable condition.
The match was stopped at the same moment. No one was fit to continue playing in that condition. Those who witnessed the moment lived minutes of tension.
When the match was called off, Tom Lockyer's coach Rob Edwards broke down. The Bournemouth fans tried to make him feel at home, applauded Luton Town and, as a result, the manager ended up in tears.
As the opposition fans, who at that moment felt like his own, gave him a standing ovation, he returned the affection with a round of applause. At times like this there are no colours and the Bournemouth fans were exemplary.
