Chelsea take on struggling Brentford in the Premier League as Mauricio Pochettino's side look to continue their response to a disappointing Carabao Cup final defeat last week. The Blues scraped past Championship form side Leeds in midweek but must now face one of their bogey teams.
Chelsea have only gotten the better of Brentford once in their five league meetings since 2021 so far, losing three of those. Although a heavily rotated side under Thomas Tuchel did win there in the League Cup three years ago, it has been a largely poor match-up for Chelsea.
This time round they enter the game in more need of a performance — and result — than ever. Starting the afternoon in the bottom half, Chelsea could move up to ninth and to within one point of Brighton and West Ham. Should Pochettino's men claim victory at the Gtech Community Stadium they would also be just six points off Manchester United ahead of their derby against City on Sunday.
However, form in the league has been poor for Chelsea of late. Clouded by wins over Aston Villa and Leeds in the cup, it is just one win in the last four for Pochettino's men in the league. As for Thomas Frank's Brentford, they are in a relegation battle and could be just two points off the drop zone come the end of the weekend.
In a big game for both sides, here's how you can follow the game.
The game will kick off at 3pm on Saturday, March 2. It is being played at the Gtech Community Stadium, west London.
