Despite an emotional roller coaster to start the Premier League season, Liverpool have an opportunity to pull within one point of leaders Tottenham as they travel to Brighton on Sunday.
The Reds sit fourth in the Premier League standings, but with Manchester City and Arsenal contesting a massive showdown at The Emirates shortly after, Liverpool can potentially capitalise of any stalemate between those two title contenders.
Liverpool suffered heartbreak last weekend, falling in both agonizing and controversial fashion at Tottenham, but they secured a midweek pick-me-up against Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League, and will be ready to put one stoppage-time slip behind them.
Brighton are a vulnerable side at the moment, thrashed by Aston Villa 6-1 last weekend before requiring a furious second-half comeback against Marseille in their Europa Conference League meeting midweek. The Seagulls have not kept a single clean sheet yet this season across all competitions, and manager Roberto de Zerbi has been forced to admit that they are "not playing well" at the moment.
