Burned body of woman found at football pitch in Motherwell
A woman was found dead with burn marks over her body at a football pitch in Motherwell.
Police are probing the grim discovery in the Lanarkshire town.
The unidentified female was discovered by a member of the public with the alarm being raised around 9am.
Police are currently on the scene of the death in the Muirhouse area of the town. It is understood the area is known locally as the "Muirhead pitches".
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed they had launched an investigation and described the death as "unexplained".
