Everton Under-21s continue their EFL Trophy campaign against Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium tonight.
The Blues managed to advance to the last 16 of the competition last season before being beaten 4-2 by Lincoln City at the LNER Stadium. However, they began this season's campaign earlier in the month with a 2-0 away defeat to Doncaster Rovers.
That was a common theme for Paul Tait's side - losing three and drawing one of their opening four Premier League 2 fixtures - before managing to register their first win of the season on Friday night against Norwich City Under-21s. Goals from Francis Okoronkwo and Jenson Metcalfe either side of half-time sank their opponents, who did manage to halve the deficit before the game finished 2-1.
