Everton made it back-to-back wins after they tasted sweet revenge over Aston Villa to book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his second goal in as many games when he doubled the Blues' lead at Villa Park after James Garner had opening the scoring with his first goal for the club.
It proved to be a nervy ending for the Blues after Boubacar Kamara's drive deflected into the net with seven minutes of normal time to play. But they held on for a deserved 2-1 victory over a Villa side they had lost 4-0 to in the Premier League in August.
The reward for Everton is a home against Sean Dyche's former club Burnley at Goodison Park in the fourth round.
