Sean Dyche believes Everton’s home fans gave his side the perfect platform to break its dismal record at Goodison Park.
The Blues went into the game with Luton Town having lost all four previous home matches of the season. The difficult record stretches back further, with the survival-clinching win over Bournemouth in May the only victory in the club’s last nine home games.
After a week in which Everton had earned two impressive away victories, at Brentford and Aston Villa in the Premier League and Carabao Cup respectively, there were high hopes that newly-promoted Luton would provide an ideal opportunity for the positive momentum to continue into L4.
Instead, the Hatters left with their first win of the campaign, extending the Blues' woeful home run and causing the questions to mount over why they struggle to win in front of their own supporters.

After the game, Dyche was asked whether it was a psychological issue with the the pressure of an expectant Goodison weighing on the players’ mind. But the Everton manager dismissed that as a factor, stating the supporters could not have done more.
He said: “There shouldn’t be [any psychological issue] because the crowd has been brilliant. The crowd is there, they are waiting.… The freedom that comes in front of a crowd can get tight but not when the crowd is right behind you like here.
