Carlo Ancelotti explains Bill Kenwright's three-word message in tribute to Everton chairman
Former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has paid tribute to the club’s late chairman Bill Kenwright.
The legendary Italian was in charge of the Blues for 18 months between December 2019 to June 2021, but despite penning a four-and-a-half year contract at Goodison Park, his spell on Merseyside mostly corresponded with the surreal behind closed doors matches due to coronavirus-induced restrictions before he quit to re-join Real Madrid for a second spell.
Ancelotti, who steered the Spanish giants to their 14th European Cup/Champions League at the end of his first season back at the Bernabeu by defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the 2022 final at the Stade de France – lifting the trophy for a record-breaking fourth time as a coach – has been recorded delivering a message to honour Kenwright’s memory from Los Blancos’ training ground which has been put out on Everton’s Twitter account.

The 64-year-old said: “Bill Kenwright was a fantastic support in my time at Everton Football Club. He really loved his club and he made me really understand how an Evertonian has to be.
“He always used to say: ‘Come on Blues’ and this is what I say to you: ‘Come on Blues.’”
As a coach, Ancelotti has lifted major trophies in all of Europe’s ‘Big Five’ football countries having won the league and cup in Italy with Milan; England with Chelsea; Spain with Real Madrid (cup twice) and the league in both France with Paris Saint-Germain, and Germany with Bayern Munich.
