Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that the referee admitted that he should have awarded another penalty against Arsenal. The Gunners ended the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie with a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Tuchel and his Bayern players were left incensed after seeing their appeals for a second penalty waved away. In the 67th minute, with Bayern leading, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made a short pass to centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes, only for the Brazilian to pick up the ball and retake the set piece.

Referee Glenn Nyberg had already blown his whistle for the game to continue before Raya made his initial pass. Despite protests from Bayern, the official did not point to the spot and give the German side a chance to extend their lead but was aware of his mistake, according to Tuchel in his post-match interview.
