For the second match in the space of five days, Chelsea got a big celebration in front of their away fans. For the second time in a row, it was Enzo Fernandez who was central to the scenes.
The Argentine bagged his seventh goal of the season away at Crystal Palace, adding gloss to what had been a largely frustrating display for Mauricio Pochettino's men despite their quick start to the second half. Fernandez sealed a 3-1 win over their London rivals late on, though, burying a counter-attack to hand Cole Palmer his second assist in the space of minutes as the game was wrapped up.
«Don't worry, about a thing, as every little, is gonna be alright,» sang the adoring away fans at Selhurst Park for much of the second period. It came after the tannoy system started blaring the Bob Marley tune during a delay to the action after the break. It now looks destined to become an away day favourite.
Fernandez is fast becoming that as well. He made it four goals in nine matches in 2024. He only managed one in 2023 for his club, two extra for his country.
And in Fernandez Chelsea have a player truly worth investing in. He once more committed himself to the club after a week of speculation over his future, and with goals being added to his already vast midfield game, it's not hard to see why the supporters love him so much.
«I don't want to leave Chelsea,» he told ESPN Argentina after the game. «I am very good here with my teammates and coaching staff, from the first day I have arrived.
