Ex-D.C. United and Derby County boss Rooney was sacked as manager of Birmingham City earlier this season after a short and unsuccessful stint in charge of the Championship club that is part-owned by NFL great Tom Brady.
Multiple reports earlier this week emerged stating Rooney was in talks with Misfits, the crossover boxing franchise promoted by Kalle Sauerland and Mams Taylor that has staged bouts featuring YouTubers, OnlyFans performers and other online personalities.
The poor quality of many of these fights has led to derision from boxing purists and concerns over the safety of participants, but there can be no doubt that Sauerland and Taylor have located a captive audience that would lap up any involvement from a star of Rooney’s profile.
