Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly requested the club sign a new winger in the January transfer window. The Blues spent over £350million in the summer bringing in the likes of Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Christopher Nkunku.
Pochettino already has the likes of Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling at his disposal — with Palmer and Nkunku also capable of operating in a wide role. The latter has been sidelined since August with a knee injury but is set to return to action after the international break.
Palmer has enjoyed more success when being deployed in a central role behind the striker which could be the reason for Pochettino's desire to sign a new winger — as per reports in Spain. It has emerged that Chelsea are keen on signing 18-year-old Norwegian talent Antonio Nusa — but it remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with the Club Brugge.
Nusa is highly rated around Europe having been tipped to be the 'next Neymar' and a number of clubs are monitoring his development. Club Brugge are said to be demanding a fee of around €30million (£26million) for the young winger but Chelsea are unwilling to pay the asking price.
Club Brugge manager Ronny Deila recently opened up on his thoughts on the teenage sensation after Nusa was the subject of a late bid of around £25million from Chelsea in the summer. Blues owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have made it clear that they want to sign the best young talents as they put their long-term vision into place at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking about Nusa's future at Club Brugge, Deila said: «I don't want to think about that. I think it is good for him to stay.
