Erik ten Hag’s Ajax side were world famous for their stunning football, something which Manchester United fans are yet to see under his guidance.
The Dutchman, who took the Amsterdammers to the Champions League semi-finals in the 2018/19 season, was understandably linked with Barcelona due to his team’s superb youth-based passing football.
At Old Trafford, though, things haven’t been an easy watch, something even Rio Ferdinand told talkSPORT he’s increasingly concerned about.
So when a training drill of the Red Devils failing to land passes went viral, there were soon comparisons to his previous club.
‘Rondos’, which are small-sided training drills reminiscent of ‘piggy in the middle’, are commonplace for all clubs now, with United utilising them ahead of their Champions League decider against Bayern Munich.
However, the clip showed a number of passes going astray, and what seemed to be a general confusion.
One eagle-eyed viewer compared the video to Ten Hag doing a similar drill at Ajax, with players nailing intense one-touch passes in a confined space.

Club legend Ferdinand discussed United’s lack of identity when speaking to talkSPORT, and explained why it’s a major concern, despite backing the coach until the end of the season.
