Peter Schmeichel has urged Erik ten Hag to “rethink” Antony’s position at Manchester United.
The Brazilian was hooked before the hour mark as United slumped to a dismal 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. In truth, Antony could have been subbed off earlier as, once again, he failed to make an impression.
Another ineffective display means the winger has now failed to register a goal or an assist in 15 Premier League games this season. As it stands, Antony is yet to justify the £85.5million fee United forked out to sign him from Ajax 18 months ago.

Last week, former United goalkeeper Schmeichel questioned why Ten Hag chose to sign Antony over Mohammed Kudus. The West Ham United ace has starred under David Moyes in 2023-24, bagging six league goals, having also worked under Ten Hag at Ajax.
“There’s something about that boy (Kudus),” Schmeichel told Premier League Productions on December 23. “He’s special. I don’t get it if he (Ten Hag) knows these boys very well, why did he pick Antony ahead of Kudus?”
At half-time during the Forest defeat, Schmeichel doubled down on his Antony criticism, insisting Ten Hag must reconsider how to get the best out of him. The ex-goalkeeper also claimed the winger has started to "frustrate" his United teammates.
"I really think Erik ten Hag should rethink Antony's position," he said. "He doesn't give much to the team. He frustrates his teammates. It's really frustrating.”
