Chelsea have reportedly ruled out a move for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres after the star shut down a potential move to Stamford Bridge in January.
After priority target Victor Osimhen signed a new contract with Serie A club Napoli last week that will see him stay there until 2026, the Blues switched their scope to the former Coventry City star who has been tearing up the Liga Portugal this season. The 25-year-old has already notched 10 goals and five assists and has now claimed that he's more than happy to stay in mainland Europe rather than make a return to English football.
«I think it’s a bit like when Sporting came in to sign me. I’m very happy here and I don’t care about any interested parties at the moment,» he told Portuguese outlet Record earlier this year.
«I’m enjoying every day here and not thinking about what’s going on around me. Yes, there’s talk of big clubs, but for now it’s just news. That’s all.»
After that, the Blues have now chosen to look away from the star according to the Athletic, and will be eyeing up other options as the January transfer window looms. While many will insist that Mauricio Pochettino's troubles in front of goal can be solved simply by beating Arsenal to £100m man Ivan Toney in the winter, which of course is far easier said than done given that the Brentford star himself has hinted at preferring a switch to North London, there are other alternatives that they're looking at.
One of those is RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, a player that has been highly touted for the last few years but has impressed heavily in recent months. While more often than not he's coming off the bench for the Bundesliga side, he is still popping up with important goals having netted seven in all competitions
