Insurance and Shashemene played out a goalless first half, but 11 minutes into the second half Ethiopian Insurance got the breakthrough on 66 minutes courtesy of Wogene Gezahegn.
The 1-0 lead lasted all but for minutes before Shashemene produced an equalider in the 70th minute thanks to Abdulkadir Nasir.
The draw means another valuable point for Shashemene City, who with eight points are now only one point behind struggling Wolkite in 14th place and two points behind Ethiopian Insurance in 13th.
