Despite Tottenham taking a major step towards Champions League qualification, Ange Postecoglou insisted he “couldn’t care less about the race for fourth”.
Postecoglou’s side took full advantage of Aston Villa’s 3-3 draw against Brentford as they eased to a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

The victory over Forest meant Tottenham leapfrogged Villa into fourth place as both sides sit level on 60 points but the former enjoy a better goal differential with +20 to Villa’s +17.
Tottenham also have a game in hand, placing them in pole position to secure top four and guarantee Champions League football for next season.
In the press conference after Tottenham’s win over Forest, Postecoglou was asked with the very first question if he felt like his side had taken control of the race for fourth.
It left the Aussie chuckling to himself before delivering a trademark response as he expressed his delight at how his troops largely nullified a team scrapping for survival.
“Yeah, go right for it, right from the start,” Postecoglou said.
“Couldn’t care less about the race for fourth, mate. What I care about is the way the team is progressing.
“Pleased with today. It had a little bit of everything. We started the game well, not just the goal, I thought we controlled the game well.
