Luke Littler is set for a blockbuster documentary on his rise to superstardom following his heroics at the World Darts Championship.
The 16-year-old came within a whisker of claiming the £500,000 prize but was beaten in Wednesday’s final by Luke Humphries.
But defeat at Alexandra Palace hasn’t deterred producers from eyeing up a documentary about his short life.
Littler’s unlikely run to the final captured the imagination of a multitude of sports stars leading to boxer Anthony Joshua’s production firm SBX Studio’s reportedly tabling a multi-million pound offer to showcase his story.
However, other filmmakers have also bid for the rights as Littler braces himself for a new life in the spotlight.
Wednesday’s final saw 15 million tune in to see if the teenage prodigy could get over the line in his first World Championship tournament and producers are keen to cash in on his rising popularity.
A source told The Sun: “There is a real fight to buy the film rights to Luke and his team have been getting loads of offers.
“Anthony’s production company put one on the table yesterday and are really keen to get Luke on board.
“As a sportsman, Anthony has watched Luke’s incredible rise and thinks his story is incredibly inspiring. He would love the chance to help tell it and thinks their offer is one of the best Luke will get.
“Luke and his team will have a lot to consider. It’s going to be a very exciting 12 months ahead.”
The documentary would centre on Littler’s first steps in darts and his dad, Anthony’s influence on his career.
It would lead up to the clash against Humphries for which he received a whopping £200,000 for his incredible run to the final.
He could now win even more given his place in the Premier League darts roadshow.
