Ben Hall and Linfield will be gunning for revenge against Glentoran
Defender Ben Hall insists the hurt in the Linfield dressing is still tangible ahead of the Big Two Boxing Day showdown with Glentoran at a sell-out Windsor Park.
It may be a few weeks since the Blues suffered their worst defeat of the season when they were walloped 4-0 at the home of their cross-town rivals, but the wounds are still seeping.
David Healy’s boys certainly responded in a positive manner, racking up three successive League wins which helped keep them at the top of the Sport Direct Premiership table.
Even though the Blues have been grossly under-strength having lost a posse of regulars — including Chris Shields, Chris McKee, Jamie Mulgrew and Stevie Fallon, along with long-term casualties Robbie McDaid and Jordan Stewart — they have kept churning out vital results. Their one blot on the landscape was that night on December 1, when things came tumbling down at the BetMcLean Oval.
“It’s the old cliche in football, we don’t get too high or too low,” claims Hall. “In saying that, it is still in the back our minds what happened that night, so it’s up to us to put it right.
“We know there is a sell-out crowd coming on Boxing Day, we don’t want to disappoint our supporters who have been great this season. Big Two games really look after themselves, it’s always said that form means little.
“We are down to the bare bones at the minute, we are getting injury after injury. We need to keep ticking the games off and try to stay on top as long as we can.
