There was a brief delay, a time-buying sip of water and an uncharacteristic stutter from Jordan Henderson before he felt ready to answer one of the more challenging questions at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Friday: 'Do you have regret leaving Liverpool for Saudi Arabia last summer?'
"In life, if you want to call them regrets or mistakes you can call them that but at the same time they're only mistakes if you don't learn from them," said Henderson in an unconvincing rebuttal. "I learnt a lot of things out in Saudi, there were a lot of different experiences."
Less than six months after following in the footsteps of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo to lap up the new-found riches of the Saudi Pro League, Friday saw Henderson make a sheepish return to Europe and address the media in a public setting for the first time since his controversial Anfield exit.
