Callum Wilson has emerged as an injury doubt for Saturday after picking up a slight hamstring strain, while centre-back Sven Botman – who scored his first Newcastle goal in the win over Sheffield United – is nursing a knee issue.
«We're going to see today. Callum has very minor hamstring tightness,» Howe said at a press conference on Friday. «We'll give him every chance of being available. Same with Sven — we'll make a late check on him.»
Alexander Isak, who scored the match-winner against Man City, is another who will need assessing ahead of kickoff after sustaining a knock in midweek.
«He's another one we'll need to make a late check on,» Howe added. «That's the cost of having three games in a week – it's usually the third game where these things build up.»
