Erik ten Hag is DELUDED, Chris Sutton says on It's All Kicking Off

Chris Sutton has claimed Erik ten Hag is 'deluded' after his comments following the Manchester derby.

Man City came from behind to beat Man United 3-1 on Sunday thanks to two goals from Phil Foden and one from Erling Haaland after Marcus Rashford's stunning opener.

Despite City only going ahead in the 80th minute, Pep Guardiola's side had 73 per cent of possession, while they also forced 27 attempts to United's three.

However, speaking post-match, Ten Hag hailed his side's performance as he claimed they defended 'brilliantly' and could have won the game.

And, former Premier League winner Sutton - speaking on Mail Sport's It's All Kicking Off podcast alongside football editor Ian Ladyman - hit out at the Dutchman and said his comments were worrying.

'Erik ten Hag is deluded,' he said. 'I think Man United have done a full circle under him. His first Manchester derby they lost 6-3 and I predicted a cricket score that day and I went for that again yesterday.

'Man City are so far ahead of Man United (but) the biggest concern - and I appreciate managers have to put a positive spin on things - is listening to Ten Hag saying things like "we are progressing, that was a good performance".

'If I was a Man United fan I would really be questioning what the manager is saying and the way the team are playing.

'The truth is I don't think anyone sees a future for Erik ten Hag (at United) beyond this season.'

City's victory means they have won six of the last seven meetings between the teams.

They sit 18 points clear of them in the league this season with a goal difference that is superior by 37 goals.
