Sean Dyche hasn’t figured out how to get the best out of Goodison Park.
The Everton fans are there, week in/week out, fully sold out, hoping to be entertained. It’s us against the world and they get behind the team.
Dyche has got to find the solutions but we all know the answer, it’s to start fast and make it difficult for the opposition.
Don’t let them settle or get the first passage of play in.
Make a good tackle, press fast, press sharp. Show the desire to put the hard yards in, don’t just go through the motions and think you’ll get your moment soon – that attitude stinks as you leave the door open and you get punished.
Dyche said that the level was low but they still had their opportunities.
Yes but it was a little bit too late, they should have produced those chances in the first 10 minutes.
I’m telling you now if you’re a Crystal Palace defender and you’re on the back foot at Goodison after 15 minutes and the crowd is roaring, you’re thinking ‘hurry up and let’s just get this game over and done with.’ But no, Everton are a soft touch once again.
I feel harsh saying it but there was some brain dead decision-making. It takes us a minute at times to take a throw-in, we’re trying to win a game, what are you doing?
If you’re taking a free-kick, do it quickly.
But no, we wait for Jordan Pickford to jog up to the halfway line, we’re letting the opposition settle.
At Goodison Park you’ve got to be on the front foot and causing havoc from the start to get the crowd going. The Goodison faithful are crying out for a bit of passion from the players and if they show that then the place will rock and the opposition will crumble.
You shouldn’t have to wait until the last 10 minutes for that to happen.
