Everton’s winless run in the Premier League extended to 11 matches as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford in what was their last game for three weeks.
The Blues started the contest brightly but their early promise was soon evaporated through a brace of needless penalties given away by James Tarkowski and Ben Godfrey which were converted by Bruno Fernandes (12) and Marcus Rashford (36) respectively to give Erik ten Hag’s side the most routine of victories against Sean Dyche’s strugglers.
Jordan Pickford 7
Made a top-drawer save to deny Bruno Fernandes a second goal from a free-kick just outside the area and then got down well to his right after the break to keep him out again with a finger-tip effort having gone the right way for the penalty but failed to keep it out.

Another chastening afternoon for him playing full-back at Old Trafford, he hacked down Garnacho for the second penalty and while athletic in his movement, his positioning was questionable having been nowhere to be seen when Jack Harrison had to make a last-ditch tackle on Marcus Rashford.
Vitalii Mykolenko 6
Survived a couple of penalty appeals himself for handballs but was more expansive than Godfrey on the opposite side and got forward at times to support attacks while remaining fairly solid in his defensive duties trying to contain the fleet-footed Garnacho.
James Tarkowski 5
For all his strong aerial play this was not one of the usually consistent Everton captain’s better days, he’ll know that steaming into Alejandro Garnacho on the edge of the area when he was going nowhere was rash and the United youngster was always going to go flying to the turf.
