Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has weighed in with his latest update on the future of Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich amid links with top clubs in the Premier League.
The experienced Germany international has been a key player for Bayern for many years now, and it’s not too surprising to see that there’s plenty being written about him ahead of this summer as he approaches the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena.
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest column for the Daily Briefing, Romano played down talk of specific clubs being identified as potential destinations for Kimmich, as well as other teams supposedly being ruled out.
This follows the report below from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who said that Kimmich could be open to joining the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, but not Manchester United or Chelsea…

It seems it’s too early to know for sure where Kimmich could end up next, even if Romano admits there’s a chance the 29-year-old could be on the move this summer if a new contract isn’t sorted out for him by then.
“A lot has been written about Joshua Kimmich as he approaches the final year of his contract at Bayern Munich, and while I want to be respectful to what other journalists are saying, I can only report on what I’ve been told so far,” Romano said.
“I’m told that Bayern will speak to Kimmich about his contract situation in the next months, and in case new deal can’t be agreed, there’s a chance to sell him this summer- exactly in a similar situation as Alphonso Davies.
