Everton today expect to learn whether the club faces a new charge from the Premier League for breaking profit and sustainability rules.
Prominent journalist David Ornstein last night reported that Everton and Nottingham Forest are expecting to be referred to an independent commission over breaches of the regulations.
The Blues were hit with a 10-point penalty in November after being found to have become the first club to break the rules. The punishment has left Sean Dyche's side in the thick of a relegation battle.
They moved one point clear of the drop spots with a 0-0 draw at home to Aston Villa on Sunday. But should Everton be found guilty of breaching financial regulations for a second time, they could be hit with a second points deduction, which could prove disastrous to their chances of staying in the English top flight.
Meanwhile, it appears that Blues transfer target Hannibal Mejbri is on his way from Manchester United to Sevilla.
