Paris Saint-Germain remain silent on the Kylian Mbappé (25) saga, amidst reports that the France captain has chosen to join Real Madrid.
Le Parisien confirmed Foot Mercato’s reporting earlier in January that Mbappé has indeed chosen to join Real Madrid. Having rejected Los Blancos back in 2022, in favour of remaining with PSG, there is an increased expectation that Mbappé will move to the Bernabeu upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.
However, before Mbappé’s decision becomes public, the Frenchman must first inform PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his intentions, which is yet to happen. “When we’ve both decided, we’ll tell you,” said Al-Khelaifi on Thursday.
PSG therefore remain silent on the saga. Speaking earlier this week, manager Luis Enrique gave a curt “no” when asked whether Mbappé had revealed his intentions to him, whilst Lucas Hernandez alluded to the subject of Mbappé’s future being somewhat taboo in the dressing room.
“We try not to talk about the subject too much. We aren’t talking about it. We know there is a lot of expectation around him,” Hernandez, who joined PSG from Bayern Munich in the summer, told RTL.
Whilst the subject of Mbappé’s future fills the back pages on a daily basis in France, Spain and beyond, it is very much the elephant in the room at PSG. However, the subject must ultimately be tackled, and according to Fabrizio Romano, Mbappé’s decision is expected “soon”.
