Everton Women's boss Brian Sorensen has admitted it is "vital" for both the club and the city that Sean Dyche's side stay in the Premier League this season.
The Blues were handed an unprecedented 10-point deduction back in November after being judged to have breached the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules (PSR) in the three-year period to 2021–22. It marked the harshest sporting sanction in the competition's history, with Everton instantly dropping from 14th to 19th place in the table.
However, following a successful appeal, the club saw their penalty reduced from 10 to six points this week, meaning they are now up to 15th in the league standings, five points clear of the relegation zone. Although Everton have said they are "satisfied" with the reduction, they could still be docked more points this term after being charged for alleged breaches in their accounts for 2022–23.

While any such punishment and its potential repercussions would not directly impact the women's team, Sorensen concedes Everton's top flight survival is paramount to ensuring the long-term success of the club as a whole.
Speaking to the media on Friday ahead of the Blues Women's Super League (WSL) clash with Manchester City, the Dane said: "I don't know if it's vital for us, but for the club, for the city, it's important. That's a no-brainer. I don't think so much about it or pay so much attention to it because at the end of the day, I try to really focus on what I can control and that's getting my team ready.
