Fans are shocked to learn Kylian Mbappe's real name after his old FIFA Ultimate Team card goes viral

Kylian Mbappe has become a global icon since first bursting onto the scene as a youngster when he was at Monaco.

At the start of the 2016-17 season, the young French forward was unknown to most in France, let alone in Europe or worldwide.

However by the end of the season, he became a global superstar and was nipped by one of Europe's giants, PSG.

A recent resurfaced picture of Mbappe's old FIFA card has left many fans stunned to find out the now 25-year-old went by a different name in his first few seasons with the French side.

Mbappe featured in Monaco's FIFA squad for the 2017 edition but if you were looking to add him into your squad, you would off had to search for a very different name.

On his 2017 FIFA player card, a young, fresh-faced Kylian appears above the name 'Lottin'.

Fans were shocked to see Mbappe's distinct face appear alongside another name, having only known him by his current name, with one fan simply replying 'who's he?'.

Many fans may be unaware that the Frenchman's surname is actually 'Lottin' not Mbappe, which is his middle name.

The World Cup winner's full name is Kylian Mbappe Lottin and he dropped the 'Lottin' from his name just before signing for PSG.

Mbappe isn't the only 'Lottin' family member to drop the surname. His father used to go by Mbappe Lottin but as of the past few years has just gone by Mbappe as well.

His younger brother Ethan, who also plays his football for PSG, also made the decision to drop Lottin and just be known as Mbappe.

The reasoning for them all dropping their surname is unknown.

Fans should soon expect to see his name printed on a different shirt other than PSG from next season.
