Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea side could once again name an entire XI of players name on the pre-match injury list against Everton. Released ahead of his press conference on Friday, the boss remains without plenty of his first-choice side.
It is nothing new for Pochettino having dealt with an alarming number of fitness issues throughout the campaign. However, things haven't gotten better as the final straight comes into play, it instead appears to have gotten worse.
A bout of illness looks to have spread through the camp with three players currently suffering in the build-up to taking on still relegation-threatened Everton on Monday. There will be no excuses for Chelsea though as they look to take advantage of a defeat for West Ham as well as draws for Manchester United and Brighton in the battle for European football.
Here, football.london has the latest from the Chelsea treatment room heading into the clash.
Ben Chilwell was absent from the matchday squad that faced Manchester United and Sheffield United after picking up a knock over the international break in March. The left-back has recently returned to partial first-team training.
Injury: Illness.
What Pochettino has said: «Yes, not only him but I think there are too many players that we miss, we are missing the competition. But in that personal case, Chilly is training, partial training today with the team, and see if he can be involved with the squad, on the bench for Monday. It's good news, but it's true what you say, he has not played too much this season.»
Possible return date: Everton (H) — April 15.
