Kylian Mbappe cut a frustrated figure after being forced to watch Emiliano Martinez's World Cup final heroics.
The Argentina star was picking up the award for the Yashin Trophy — the prize for the best goalkeeper — at the 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony on Monday night.
While being handed the prize, the Aston Villa shot-stopper stood on stage as those in attendance were played clips of his best moments from the year.
Most notably, these came from the World Cup final in Qatar where Martinez's goalkeeping heroics played a huge part in winning the tournament.
With Argentina and France level at 3-3 in extra-time, Martinez attracted huge praise for a stunning stop in open play from Randal Kolo Muani in the latter stages of the match.
He then saved Kingsley Coman's penalty in the shootout that saw the South Americans to glory.
The 31-year-old did everything that he could to distract the France team on the night, something that clearly worked, with some of the attendees at the Ballon d'Or ceremony booing him as the highlights were played back.
While host, Didier Drogba, urged those in attendance to 'respect' Martinez, Mbappe and France's head coach Didier Deschamps could only watch on in disappointment.
The cameras cut to the pair in the audience, with the duo both seen with glum looks on their face.
Social media was sent into meltdown over their reactions, as one X user said: «This camera man knows what he is doing. Camera on Mbappe and Deschamps.»
Another posted: «The pain on Mbappe's face.»
A third added: «Deschamps and Mbappe’s reactions were hilarious cus it look like they got PTSD from Martinez.»
